For shipping and technology contracts Sherwood Forest helps companies renegotiate existing contracts with their existing providers. The objective is to reduce your shipping or technology costs by helping you receive the maximum available discount levels for which a company qualifies.
Role: Our role in the negotiations can be (1) lead negotiator, (2) side-by-side team negotiator with you, or (3) background advisor while you negotiate.
Expertise: We work on approximately 80 – 100 contracts each year and have been doing so for over fifteen years. The work we do is for clients in all different parts of the country – coming from different sales regions of your vendor. Combining this broad base of current market information with time tested negotiation strategies and the collective expertise of our other clients produces the best results. Our clients may have used some of the strategies we use but when they are applied using our market information, the results are world-class.
Internal vs. external: We do not generally consider ourselves smarter than our clients but we have the benefit of having worked with a lot of smart people through all of our negotiations. This collective expertise, when provided to new clients, makes our clients that much more sophisticated buyers of the services they need.
Pay for performance: Our fee is a performance based model. For every dollar we save for a client the client keeps 70 cents and we receive 30 cents for the term of the new agreement with the vendor. After we have helped a client negotiate we review the billing with the new pricing, for no additional charge, and show the client a “before and after” savings spreadsheet report. If the client agrees with the savings then we bill them. We continue to provide a savings spreadsheet report each month.
